Workshops & MI training

Practical, evidence-informed training at a human pace—designed for real teams and real conversations, not textbook performance.

MINT & Motivational Interviewing

I am a member of MINT—the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers—the international community that promotes high-quality MI practice, training, and ongoing learning. If you are new to the acronym, think of MINT as the home base where serious MI trainers compare notes and keep the spirit of MI honest.

Values-Based Motivational Interviewing (VBMI)

My workshops are grounded in Values-Based Motivational Interviewing (VBMI)—a values-centered, autonomy-protective way of practicing MI that keeps partnership, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment at the center. VBMI treats ambivalence as tension between legitimate values and invites curiosity about what behaviour is trying to protect—not judgment about whether someone is “ready enough.”

Formats I offer

  • 4-hour workshops—focused intensives for busy teams
  • 1-day and 2-day builds—deeper practice, supervision-friendly pacing
  • MI for Leadership—when your job is less “chair” and more “culture”
  • Bespoke workshops—tailored agendas for your organization’s language, setting, and constraints

If you need “MI, but make it survive a 12-minute stand-up,” we can talk. Ritzy doesn’t mean rigid.

Who I train

Any team that wants better understanding of customers, clients, or co-workers—clinical staff, community groups, leadership cohorts, service teams, and families. If your work depends on conversations where tone, pacing, and respect for autonomy matter as much as technique, we can shape a workshop that fits.

Invitation to Change

I am an Invitation to Change trainer at Level 1. The Invitation to Change Approach, developed by CMC:Foundation for Change, blends compassion-focused, evidence-informed strategies for families and helpers supporting a person with substance use concerns. Learn more about the approach and trainings on the CMC:FFC website and their trainings listing.
