My Treatment Philosophy
What to expect?
I work with individuals to gain a trusting therapeutic relationship, in order to find fresh ways of looking at personal struggles. Our work together will start by building an understanding of who you are and your motivations for coming to counselling. We then work collaboratively to unpack underlying themes that are relevant to your story. These will allow us to create and implement goals for a new way of being.
Evidence indicates the relationship between client and therapist is the best predictor of outcome. I work to establish and strengthen our relationship by validating and normalizing your experience. Being well versed in different therapeutic models allows me to utilize a variety of tools in session. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Seeking Safety (Trauma), Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

A Passionate Counsellor
I graduated with a Master in Social Work from UBC and I am registered with the BC College of Social Workers. I work currently as a Social Work Professional Practice Lead at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, with Provincial Health Services Authority, where I offer individual and group therapy for people with concurrent disorders. I also offer practice supervision and clinical education for health care professionals. I have acted as a Chair for the BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services Ethics Committee.
In previous settings, I treated individuals with acquired brain injuries, men coping with identity changes and I coordinated a drop-in space for youth in crisis.
